About the Mayor

Ace Stefan V. Binghay, born April 17, 1973, at Cebu City, Philippines, has been in public service for almost two (2) decades. He is no stranger to politics as he is the son of former Mayor Alex S. Binghay, former Vice Mayor Rosario Veloso Binghay and he is the grandson of the sixth (6th) Municipal Mayor of the town of Balamban (1955-1967),  the late Mayor Exasperanza Sanchez-Binghay . The late Dominador Sanchez, Balamban’s Alcalde (1889-1899) and Municipal President ( 1934-1941) is Mayor Ace’s great grand father.

Mayor Binghay is a Medical Technologist by profession, he earned a degree in Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (1996) from Cebu Doctor’s University. He is a devoted husband to his wife Dr. Marie Therese Angele T. Binghay and a loving father to his three children: Ashton Tyler, Ace Jaeden and Anicka Simonne.

His political career started in 1993 when he was elected as the Sangguniang Federation President of the Municipality. In 2004 – 2007, he was a member of the Sangguniang Bayan of the Municipality as a Councilor. He also served one term as the Vice Mayor of Balamban from 2007 – 2010.

From 2010 to 2019, Mayor Ace completed the three mayoral term. He was the initiator   of the programs of the Municipality like the Hatud Pangalagad (the LGU’s program of delivering free government’s services to the 28 barangays of Balamban), School Supplies Distribution to all public school students, quarterly blood donation activity, Sinulog sa Balamban, Pasko sa Balamban, Lingaw-lingaw sa Ting-init (summer sports training and tournament), free birthing center services and a lot more.

Presently, Mayor Ace Stefan V. Binghay continues to carry the Balamban story of resilience, transformation and development. Under his watch, Balamban today is a vibrant, progressive and peaceful municipality.  Through his rich experience in local governance, the town is moving through with strong economic growth creating greater challenges than ever before.  

As Mayor with inclusive planning principles, he is committed to improving agriculture, education, health, security and infrastructure development in the Municipality as well as promoting job creation, promoting poverty alleviation, social integration and strengthening public-private sector partnership.
