Elderly Filipino Week Celebration

The Elderly Filipino Week Celebration is pursuant to Proclamation No. 470 issued by former President Fidel V. Ramos on September 26, 1994. The event aims to increase public awareness of the different issues concerning the older person sector. For this year’s celebration, the theme is “Older Persons: Resilience in Nation Building.”
LGU Balamban celebrated the said event with a kick-off activity conducted last October 12, 2022, in which the senior citizens chose a “Hara sa mga Senior Citizens.”
A hara or queen and four runners-up were chosen by drawing lots. The activity was represented by chapter officers and members from the 28 barangays of the municipality led by the Officers of the Municipal Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines and participated by more than 950 senior citizens.
LGU Balamban also hosted the Induction/ Oathtaking of the New Set of Officers and the Board of Members of the Balamban Municipal Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines graced by our active Municipal Mayor, Hon. Ace Stefan V. Binghay and in the presence of the Committee Chairman of the Senior Citizens Affair, Hon. Anastacio Lape Jr.
The Induction of the Cebu Provincial Federation of Cities and
Municipalities of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines, Inc. was also graced by the Chief Executive Officer of the National Commission of Senior Citizens/ NCSC, Atty. Franklin M. Quijano held at the Exasperanza S.Binghay Memorial Sports and Cultural Center last October 14, 2022.
The Balamban Senior Citizen Officers completed the celebration by visiting the home for the aged at Hospicio de San Jose de Barili last October 19, 2022. The officers were given the chance to interact with those senior citizens placed in the institution and were oriented on the home life programs and services of the Hospicio.
