RUNNING TOUR AT TSUNEISHI SHIPYARD
A shipyard is a spectacular thing to behold as guests of the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo Explore the Midwest are given a running tour around the mammoth Tsuneishi Heavy Industries shipyard in Balamban.
The third day of the Capitol’s tourism caravan fully embraced what is now emerging as “industrial tourism” in Midwest Cebu.
Despite the tour being brief, it fully captures the whole thing that catapults Balamban to be the Shipbuilding Capital of the Country today, such as the heavy machineries and massive ships at varying stages of completion.
The Tsuneishi shipyard is equipped with 2 shipbuilding berths and 1 building dock to build mainly 180,000-ton-class bulk carriers. The ship factory can build up to 30 ships a year for the world market, creating jobs and spurring economic growth in Balamban. | BJR
